Fans of the Merc with a Mouth now have a brand new action figure to pony up for, as Sideshow Collectibles/Hot Toys just listed their newest Deadpool sixth scale figure to order, coinciding with this week's theatrical release of Deadpool 2. As per usual, Hot Toys means exceptional accuracy and sculptural detail, nerdy nods to the Deadpool franchise, and inspired accessories designed with the fans in mind.

Distributor Sideshow is the exclusive retailer for Hot Toys collectible figures in North America and Europe, and this is their second cinematic Deadpool action figure. Pre-orders for the collectible opened just in time for Deadpool 2's review embargo to end, with the action sequel quickly shooting to Certified Fresh status on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Deadpool 2 sixth scale replica features a plethora of intricate details and accessories. Wade Wilson’s beloved unicorn plushy is included, as well as a cloth X-Men Trainee jersey, which refers to a key plot point from the new film. Weaponry is what one would expect, with the character’s signature katanas made of metal, two pistols, shuriken, and a dagger. And, since it’s Deadpool, you also get a pair of attachable black high heels and some unique interchangeable hand pieces, including “thumbs up” and “OK-sign” variants.

Speaking of those hands, Hot Toys had a few issues with their last Deadpool figure. A manufacturing design flaw caused the interchangeable hand pieces to damage the pleather wrist sections of Deadpool’s costume over time. Guides were even written to help owners of the collectible deal with the issue, and the figure, while well-received by fans overall, also drummed up online criticism from a number of annoyed owners.

While the additions to this Deadpool figure are on-brand and amusing, it’s surprising that there is no head-swap available for those who’d prefer to see Ryan Reynolds' damaged visage. Hot Toys’ chief sculptor Kojun handles the head sculpt here, and while the swappable eye pieces are excellent and comparable to the previous model, a more significant swap - perhaps a Deadpool head with the mask pulled up above the mouth? - might be an even more impressive demonstration of his craft.

As it stands, the new model seems incredibly similar to the previous one, but so long as no new manufacturing issues come up, this seems to be the essential Deadpool figure collectors are looking for. Featuring all the original weapons from the 2016 model, and the new aforementioned pack-ins, it’s a beautiful and highly poseable showcase item at $251, with an estimated shipping target of early 2019.
